Concert by Shri Shridhar Phadke

April 18th and 19th, 2010 were special days for MMOSF. On April 18th, Shri. Shridhar Phadke (accompanied by nivedak, Shri. Mayur Dewal) delighted the audiences with his Sugam Sangeet. His melodious singing interspersed with anecdotes and stories from the world of Marathi Sangeet was a ‘one-of-a-kind’ treat. The program held in Boca Raton, was attended by almost a hundred people.
A subsequent concert of “Geet Ramayan” was held on Sunday April 19th at the Kulkarni residence. Geet Ramayan is G. D. Madgulkar's and Babuji's most popular works. Shridharji took all of us down memory lane as we listened to “Swaye Shri Ram Prabhu Aikati” and “Dasharatha ghe he payasdaan”
These two evenings will remain in our memory for a very long time.

Haldi Kunkum

The Mandal celebrated Sankranti Haldi Kunku as their first event of 2010 at the residence of Mrs. Amrita Jambhekar. The event was attended by about sixty ladies and twelve girls. It was an afternoon filled with festivity and laughter. Ladies dressed in colorful green, red, yellow, and black saris exchanged anecdotes, sang songs and played typical games. The home was filled with the smells of ragda patties, stuffed kachoris, rice pulav, vegetable curry, gul poli and of course til gul. The afternoon lingered on as the chatter, singing and laughter continued. The day ended with the exchange of til gul and the traditional haldi kunku ceremony.

We would like to thank all the ladies who worked hard and contributed in many ways to make this event so successful and so much fun. And to all the ladies and young girls who attended the function with so much enthusiasm.
